Sicily is a container of naturalistic beauties, magical places and dreamlike atmospheres that condense within the many microcosms spread throughout its territories.
Casa TriTtra, was born from the renovation of an apartment located in Trapani, inside a building dating back to the 50s and the transformation project is aimed at satisfying the needs of a young family unit, respecting the identity of the house itself. Inside its triangular shape, which evokes the image of Sicily and that of the city of Trapani, the essence of the dreamlike atmospheres of the island is enclosed with explicit references to local materials. The reference to an ancient natural cooling technique, that of the sirocco room, is translated here into the creation of a vertical garden, located at the extreme tip of the house and able to connect the domestic space with the sky, becoming a kaleidoscope of continuously changing elements. The research on natural lighting leads to an experimental solution that involves the use of water, as a conductor of light to allow the sun's rays to penetrate inside a bathroom without windows. During the day, the living area is flooded with a large amount of light that is mitigated by the presence of the ash wood cube. This is conceived as a treasure chest containing the kitchen, with a strong architectural connotation and capable of dividing the space into two functional areas. On one side, the dining area that directly overlooks the vertical garden, on the other, the living area, from which the cabinet/walkway winds its way, ending in front of the white marble balcony. The latter, directly connected to the raw iron wall, is the starting point of the staircase that leads to the wooden island, suspended over the entrance to the house.
