The Babbalucio - living cell
Drills
Project and Works Management: Arch. Gianni Ingardia
Inside a 25 m2 room on the second floor of a building in front of the port of Trapani, a "cell" was created containing a toilet, kitchen and a wardrobe space serving the living area and at the same time a bed for the mini-apartment.
The cell, which takes the name of "babbalucio" (a term in Sicilian dialect referring to a snail) is conceived as a functional volume but also as a furnishing for the living unit. The shell was made dry and finished with an epoxy resin in two shades of color. Inside the cell there is the fully glazed bathroom and the kitchen, designed with a compact volume that incorporates appliances and storage spaces. The spiral staircase next to the bathroom leads to the flat roof from which you can admire the port and the landscape of the salt flats and enjoy lunches and dinners outdoors.
